With the introduction of the Haynesville Shale to our community, and his involvement in the oil & gas industry while with Roberts Cherry and Company CPA’s, Mr. Tamplin had the foresight to see the need for a one stop consulting firm, catering to the beneficiaries of the Haynesville Shale. Now, Mr. Tamplin is responsible for the day-to-day operations and manages the financial aspects of Aliign Mineral Management, LLC. He also coordinates and administers the company’s marketing and strategic plans.

Licensed to practice in the states of Louisiana and Texas with a BS in Accounting from LSUS with 23 years of accounting experience; 10 years with large natural gas company, now headquartered in Houston TX, 7 years of real estate/family partnerships, and 6 years of public accounting.

Partner of Counsel

John joined Heard, McElroy & Vestal in 1981 and retired in June 2011 after serving as Managing Partner for the previous 11 years. He remains active with the firm today as Partner Of Counsel, and when the company merged with Allign Mineral Management in December 2017, John joined our team. He has extensive experience working with royalty owners and producers in order to secure proper payment for Haynesville Shale production.

A native of Shreveport, John graduated from Louisiana State University in Shreveport with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, followed by a Master of Public Accounting with a specialization in taxation from The University of Texas.

Nick Courville, CPA

Nick Courville, CPA

Nick joined the Allign Mineral Management team when the company merged with Heard, McElroy & Vestal in December 2017. He began his career at HMV in May 2011 and works in the Audit Department. As an Audit Partner, Nick’s duties included performing audits and attestation engagements of for closely-held companies, including those in the oil and gas industry. Additionally, he prepares financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliations of client information and researches technical issues and formulates the appropriate conclusions in order to effectively communicate the solution to team members and clients. A graduate of Northwestern State University, Nick received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in May of 2010.  Prior to joining HMV, Nick was employed at KPMG, LLP as an Audit Associate.

Roy E. Prestwood, CPA

Roy E. Prestwood, CPA

Roy has more than 30 years of experience in the accounting industry and is licensed both in Louisiana and Texas. As a Partner in the Tax Department of the Shreveport office, his main focus is in taxation, specifically related to closely held businesses, physicians, and oil & gas. In 2017, Roy began serving as the Partner-In-Charge of the Tax Department. Roy transitioned into the firm’s Managing Partner role July 1, 2022.

Roy received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Centenary College followed by his Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston. Roy joined Heard, McElroy & Vestal in 1998 and was elected partner in 2001. From 2009 to 2017, he served as the firm’s Personnel Development Partner and is a current member of the Administrative Committee. Before joining HMV, Roy was with McEvoy & Company of Houston, Texas for ten years.

Robert L. Dean, CPA/ABV

Robert L. Dean, CPA/ABV

Robert has worked in the accounting industry for over 25 years, serving as the Managing Partner at Heard, McElroy and Vestal from 2010 until 2022. Robert currently serves the firm as Partner-In-Charge of Business Valuation Consultants, a subsidiary of HMV as well as a Tax Partner. His primary focus includes taxation and business valuation, specifically mergers & acquisitions of closely-held businesses. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, Robert is one of a very limited number of CPAs that carries the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) credential, granted exclusively by the AICPA.

Robert graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Northeast Louisiana University in 1987 and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. Robert served as Partner-in-Charge of the Tax Department from 2004 until 2009 and as Managing Partner from 2009 until 2022.

Blake joined the Aliign Mineral Management team in 2014, after a brief internship. He is our special projects lead, but also works with our management clients; analyzing their royalty statements, interacting with operating companies, and generating support documents for litigation purposes. With 5 years of oil and gas experience, he also became a certified mineral manager in 2018. He is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.

Taylor has been with us since the beginning and has helped build and design the package of services we currently provide our clients. You will be hard pressed to find someone more knowledgeable than she, when it comes to the interest of the royalty owner. Taylor is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, earning a Bachelor of Science in human resource management in 2010. She became a Certified Mineral Manager in 2014 and is currently our lead analyst, working closely with each and every client.

Lane Spano

Lane Spano

Lane joined the Aliign Mineral Management team in 2021 bringing 15-plus years of multi-state contract landman field agent experience working with local and national clients in oil, gas and minerals and public utilities as well as extensive surface use negotiation and acquisition along with some timber and forestry experience.  A Texas Real Estate Commission License holder, with both Louisiana and Georgia Notary commissions, Lane handles land and mineral conveyance title examinations providing support for the Aliign team and clients including document drafts, title curative to clear up ownership and funds-in-suspense issues.

Connor Thompson-Gardner

Connor Thompson-Gardner

Connor Thompson-Gardner joined the team in 2022 after graduating from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, with a BS in Accounting. He works with our royalty investment groups and oil & gas operators, coordinating with each to facilitate an effective and efficient financial reporting process.

Previously, Connor worked for Andersen Feazel Management, supporting the executive staff with an array of assiduous responsibilities.

Mary Nell Myles

Mary Nell Myles

Mary Nell joined the Aliign Mineral Management team in 2023 with experience serving as an Oil & Gas consultant. She currently works with our independent operating companies to provide outsourced Oil & Gas specific accounting and software expertise.

Mary Nell graduated from Louisiana State University in Shreveport with Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She is currently working towards her Masters of Business Administration.
